Alevis or Alevi-Bektashis ( or Alevilik, ) are a religious community in Turkey, making up approximately 20% of the population of the country. There are also familiar Bektashi communities in Albania, Republic of Macedonia, Bosnia and Bulgaria due to the presence of the Ottoman Janissaries during Ottoman times.
